Long Time, No Post

It's been two weeks since the last local blog. I had to relearn how to type and had to be taught what music in general was again, but dagnabbit I'm back at it talking about local music. Slap on your listening caps, adjust your reading glasses (or if you have 20/20 just...I dunno....blink a couple times to make sure there's no dust in your pupils) and lets get into these songs.

First up! Hales Corner. Grace, our fantastical (IT IS TOTALLY A WORD) music director here at 95.7 The Spin plopped the album  "Garden View" onto my lap a while ago and for good reason. She knows good tunes and these guys supply them with this album. While the whole album is worth checking out, the standout track for me, which is the I've added to our local cue, is the third track "Why Aren't You Laughing." I can't get enough of this song, but then again I'm a sucker for introspective lyrics sang with a smooth voice. Slap those two things in with some soft instrumentals and I'm hooked. Check it out below!

Second up! 800 Ib Gorilla. Once again, I gotta give a shout out to muh main gurl Grace for showing me this funktastic band from out of Bloomington, IN. Their album "El Nino" is ripe with songs that will get your booty shakin' (that hurt to type), but the standout for me was the final song on the album "Somebody". This song is full of soulful vocals and funky riffs that sound like they stepped in a time machine in 1970 and wound up in a college town in 2016. Hear it below!

Alrighty, that'll do it for this week. Thanks for reading, and be sure to tune into the local show every Friday from 3-5 on 95.7 The Spin!
